Planning Ahead
Practical information for those getting their digital affairs in order.
Why people plan ahead
Some people come to us because they want to spare their family the burden of figuring out their digital life. Others are facing a health situation and are getting their affairs in order. Whatever your reason, we're here to help.
Planning ahead means your family won't need to:
- Search through your emails trying to find accounts
- Guess which services you used
- Learn dozens of different platform processes
- Spend weeks contacting companies during an already difficult time
How The Vault works
The Vault lets you register your accounts now, so everything is ready when needed.
- You register your accounts - List the services you use and what you'd like done with each one
- You nominate an executor - Someone you trust who will notify us when the time comes
- You update anytime - Add new accounts, change instructions, update your executor whenever you like
- When the time comes - Your executor contacts us, and we handle everything
There's no pressure and no timeline. Your information stays secure until your executor activates the account.
Payment options
We want to make this accessible for everyone. There are several ways to pay for The Vault:
Pay directly
$299 one-time (lifetime) or $99 per year. All major credit and debit cards accepted.
Superannuation (terminal illness)
If you have a terminal medical condition certified by two doctors (with life expectancy under 24 months), you can access your superannuation tax-free with no restrictions on how it's used. This is a provision under Australian superannuation law designed to give you control over your finances. If this applies to you, contact your super fund directly to arrange access - the process is usually straightforward.
Family member pays
A family member can purchase The Vault on your behalf. They would complete the registration with you, and you would nominate your executor.
For families
If your loved one has already passed, The Vault isn't the right service - but our Aftercare service can help. We'll discover their accounts and handle the closure process for you.
Aftercare costs $249 and can be paid from estate funds as an administration expense.
